Flights can be expensive, a pain and downright frustrating! If boarding your flight is the last step, then earning earning the miles to get there is the first step! I live by miles. We’ve gone all over the world thanks to paying every bill and loaf of bread with a mileage card. My favorite is the Alaska card and happily, I discovered it is still the TOP ranked mileage plan by US News & World Report. I know for many that live on the east coast you barely know what Alaska is. But their mileage redemption value has almost always better than any other. I have a Capital One card we use for rental cards (built in insurance). And I Delta for some of its perks and for flights when they are better than Alaska. BUT this post isn’t about the cards, its about just getting signed up FREE on the mileage plans! Note that if you DO have some mileage cards, they usually come with FREE luggage, which is usually $30-40 per person per flight (and the free bags is often for EVERYONE on the itinerary).

No matter where you may go, earning miles is FREE on airlines everywhere. Often when you book your own flight, you don’t want to go to different screens to sign up. So it’s always better to have your mileage number ready to go. The good part is, as your travel agent, I keep track of those numbers for you after you give it to me the first time. Your job though is to get signed up and get it ready. If you don’t have a mileage card yet (and I highly recommend you do!!), then you may not have a mileage number if you’ve never signed up for one. The flights you’ve been taking could have been earning you FREE flights all this time!
So if you’re sitting down in front of the tv, or have a few minutes, get yourself signed up to these mileage programs so they are just there and ready next time you take a trip. Skip all the extra pages – these links go direct to sign up!
